About the role

As a Principal Scientist Medical & Scientific Affairs – Digestive and Metabolic Health, you will be responsible for providing strategic medical and scientific direction to the Digestive Health Category and Cross-Category Platforms for the U.S. business. As part of Medical & Scientific Affairs at Haleon, you will play a pivotal role advancing the trusted science behind our well-known brands including TUMS, Gas-X, and Benefiber with new products, research, claims, and communications for consumers and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities: 
 

  • Lead Medical & Scientific Strategy: Develop and execute medical and scientific strategy in alignment with business priorities for assigned health benefit areas, categories, and brands.

  • Drive Scientific Influence in Business Strategy: Provide scientific insights to shape internal and external business strategies, product positioning, and innovation planning.

  • Evidence Generation & Claims Development: Apply evidence-based approaches to support claims, messaging, product information, and research initiatives for both innovation and marketed products.

  • Competitive & Market Intelligence: Monitor the competitive landscape, healthcare trends, consumer insights to identify innovation opportunities that align with business strategy and scientific insights.

  • Medical Communications & Publications: Develop and execute medical communication plans (e.g., CME, Advisory Boards, Congresses), and lead the creation of scientific content including manuscripts, posters, and symposiums.

  • External Expert Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and health influencers to gather insights, inform strategy, and support scientific initiatives.

  • Support Promotional Review & Education: Serve as medical lead for promotional material review and lead internal/external training programs related to assigned products and therapeutic areas.

  • Subject Matter Expertise and Scientific Ambassador: Maintain deep expertise in assigned products, therapeutic areas, regulatory framework, and emerging science to support innovation and strategic initiatives. Represent Haleon externally as a credible voice in the healthcare and scientific community.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to develop new products and translate science into compelling consumer claims and communications.

Basic Qualifications
 

  • Master’s degree in biomedical/health sciences.

  • 3+ years of experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs related role in consumer healthcare/CPG.

  • Highly organized and self-directed individual possessing excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills
 

  • PhD, MD, PharmD or similarly trained healthcare professional.

  • 5+ years of experience in Medical/Scientific Affairs related role in pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare, or CPG.

  • Strong background in the interpretation, evaluation, translation, and communication of science for consumer and healthcare professional audiences.

  • Knowledge and expertise in OTC monograph products and Digestive Health.

  • Ability to convey complex scientific concepts in a clear, concise, and compelling manner.

  • Strategic thinker, analytical, and solution-oriented with business acumen.

Location: Hybrid-based in Warren, NJ with 3 in-office days required.

The salary range for this role is: $159,774 - $219,689 plus an 18% target bonus.
