About the Role:

Our dynamic team is seeking a Principal Scientist with demonstrated pharmaceutical industry experience in designing, troubleshooting and executing SPR and BLI studies to drive our early antibody, peptide and small molecule discovery programs. A successful candidate will have a record of leading a team and successfully delivering decision making biophysics and kinetic data characterizing protein and small molecules to drive hit to lead and development candidate selection. Must have experience across complex formats including transmembrane and cellular systems. The successful individual will work in a cross-functional setting to design strategy and workflows to deliver robust and high-quality decision-making data. This lead-from-the-bench position requires exceptional scientific, technical and laboratory skills, strong organizational and communications skills, and enthusiasm in contributing to a fast-paced organization focused on discoveries of novel and differentiated therapeutic candidates.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Design, execute, and analyze SPR and BLI experiments to determine antibody affinity (KD), kinetics, pH dependent binding, competition experiments, dual-target engagement, epitope binning against various antigens, including recombinant proteins, Nanodisc, VLP. Experience with cells a plus

  • Extensive knowledge of Biacore Insight and Octet Analysis software for data analysis

  • Establish fit-for-purpose protein reagent production and qualification framework

  • Leads Biophysics team and projects

  • Prepare high-quality data reports and presentations for project meetings

  • Collaborate with scientists in a highly matrixed environment across multiple therapeutic areas and function teams

  • Originates and implements technological advancements in biophysics drug discovery expertise to drive strategy and execution, identifying and implementing new capabilities to improve department

  • Must be highly organized with strong attention to details, and an eye on critical decision-making data generation

Requirements:

  • PhD in biology or related field preferred and 4+ years pharmaceutical experience with SPR and BLI in small molecules and antibodies OR

  • MS/MA and 10+ years’ experience OR

  • BS/BA and 12+ years’ experience

  • Recognizes fundamental anomalies in data points and identifies issues in experiments / processes

  • Solves new, difficult technical issues & works to build alignment around a complex situation

  • Concise decision maker in ambiguous situations

  • Established team leader and strong project management skills

  • Excellent communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skills

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Highly collaborative and motivated to drive to deliver on department goals

    The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $130,800.00-$179,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
