Role Summary
A Principal Scientist within the Bio-Medicine Design department with demonstrated Biosensor instrument, automated liquid handling, and data analysis experience for characterizing biotherapeutics. The successful candidate will design and perform a wide variety of Biosensor assays to assess diverse biotherapeutic modalities and ensure the timely delivery and presentation of high-quality analytical data packages to project teams. The candidate should be highly innovative and able to simultaneously manage multiple projects to meet aggressive timelines and advance the Bio-Medicine Design portfolio. The candidate’s passion for discovery research, combined with collaboration skills, will be key drivers for identifying novel biotherapeutics that help patients around the globe.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Characterize biotherapeutics by developing Biosensor assays, triaging early-stage hits, assisting lead optimization, and candidate selection.
• Rigorous analysis of kinetic biomolecular binding interaction data and detailed reporting that impacts project portfolio advancement.
• Present Biosensor data at multidiscipline project team meetings and regularly contribute strategic recommendations that progress programs.
• Develop and implement innovative value-added Biosensor assays, explore novel technologies, and new instrumentation that expand capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help accelerate the pace of discovery to support multiple research areas.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• A PhD with 4 years or MS with 9+ years of relevant experience in Biochemistry, Biology, or related discipline.
• Experience with the biotherapeutic drug discovery process.
• Comprehensive applied experience developing and executing protein-protein binding Biosensor assays, including surface plasmon resonance (SPR), to characterize biotherapeutic candidates.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and data management skills.
• Ability to quickly adapt within a fast-paced, dynamic, and innovation driven scientific research environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with Biacore, Carterra, Octet, KinExA, or LigandTracer Biosensor instruments and applications are highly preferred.
• Post graduate laboratory research experience in an industry setting collaborating with interdisciplinary biotherapeutic discover teams.
• Experience with automation and database workflows.
