Raytheon’s Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Surface Radars & Sensors Center is seeking a Principal Reliability Engineer. As a Principal Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) Engineer, you will lead RAM program activities, ensuring our products are safe, reliable, and maintainable while delivered on time. Embedded within the Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) team, you will work across disciplines focused on product support, including Reliability, System Safety, and Supportability, supporting the entire product lifecycle—from conception to deactivation. Your role is pivotal in driving innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence to ensure mission-critical aerospace and defense systems meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

What You Will Do

  • Conducting Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analyses, including reliability predictions and maintainability predictions.
  • Performing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) and Fault Detection/Fault Isolation (FDFI) analyses.
  • Defining/allocating RAM requirements.
  • Assessing RAM performance: Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time Between Critical Failure (MTBCF) & Operational Availability (Ao).
  • Interpreting data and analyzing results.
  • Ensuring performance compliance to requirements.
  • Maintaining complex Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) and system models.
  • Supporting the proposal process in developing Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for RAM work.
  • Tracking Earned Value (EV) and providing accurate status on the schedule and budget for the RAM scope.
  • Minimal travel (10%) to local Raytheon sites in Northeast area.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in Reliability, Failure Analysis, and/or Quality Engineering.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Reliability Engineering Concepts including knowledge of reliability and maintainability predictions, FMECA/FDFI, RBDs, MTBF/MTBCF, Ao.
  • Experience presenting to Failure Review Boards.
  • Electrical Engineering experience, Electrical Engineering degree/education preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to present technical material audiences.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
