We are seeking a Principal Program Industrial Engineer to support program development and production activities within the Effectors portfolio in Tucson, AZ. In this role, you will help maximize factory throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to our customers. Industrial Engineers at Raytheon lead improvements across labor performance, value stream/design optimization, capacity and manpower planning, factory layout, simulation, strategic planning, and more. What You Will Do

  • This role provides direct industrial engineering support to program teams across Raytheon factories and key suppliers. Occasional travel may be required, not to exceed 30% of a standard work schedule.
  • You will partner closely with factory‑embedded IEs, Strategic Business Unit teams, suppliers, and functional organizations to improve cost, quality, and schedule performance; identify strategic investment opportunities; and enhance customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include:
  • Building factory models using process flows, value stream maps, Pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD-based layouts
  • Analyzing manufacturing system performance to identify constraints, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to optimize capacity, reduce waste, and achieve cost, quality, and schedule goals
  • Contributing to strategic roadmaps focused on capacity growth, technology insertion, infrastructure upgrades, obsolescence mitigation, and future capabilities
  • Supporting proposals, business case development, supplier assessments, and Make/Buy/Where analyses
  • Partnering with project managers and factory teams to improve factory footprints, optimize layouts, and integrate new equipment or processes

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is
    required prior to start date.
    U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S.
    citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering or Manufacturing Degree
  • The ability to obtain program specific clearances as needed
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA) in engineering, operations, or management
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑complexity manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM), scheduling tools, and proposal development
  • Experience with digital factory tools, simulation, or advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Demonstrated success leading lean transformations or production system improvements

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
