Job Description: Principal Product Manager
Human Risk Management | Remote (US)
Mimecast protects over 42,000 organisations from sophisticated cyber threats. We're looking for a Principal Product Manager to join our Human Risk Management team — owning strategic product areas within the Human Risk Command Center (HRCC) platform and leading initiatives that shape how organizations manage and reduce human-driven security risk.
This is a high-impact, senior IC role for someone who can operate from strategy to execution. You'll define and drive the roadmap for multiple HRCC capabilities, lead cross-functional programs spanning engineering, customer success, and integrations, and serve as a subject matter expert on your areas of ownership for internal and external stakeholders. You'll also mentor other PMs as we build out the HRM product team.
What you'll be responsible for
Product Ownership & Roadmap
- Own the end-to-end roadmap for a subset of HRCC capabilities, including the Human Risk Insights Report and related analytics and reporting features
- Define clear problem statements, success metrics, and prioritization rationale grounded in customer feedback, usage data, and business goals
- Partner with engineering to scope, sequence, and deliver features — driving quality outcomes on time and with clear tradeoffs articulated
- Translate complex customer needs into product requirements, UX direction, and acceptance criteria
- Lead strategic product initiatives from concept through launch, including PR/FAQ-style business cases for new capabilities
Customer Retention & Product Quality
- Build and maintain a structured process for tracking at-risk HRCC accounts, partnering with CS and Support to intervene early and prevent churn
- Serve as the PM point of contact for a set of customer escalations related to HRCC product issues — triaging, prioritizing, and communicating resolution plans
- Identify systemic patterns in customer escalations and translate them into product investments that reduce recurring friction
- Partner with Integrations PM to ensure third-party integrations are well-positioned for customer enablement and adoption, and contribute to integration adoption programs in collaboration with customer success and solutions engineering teams
Cross-Functional Execution
- Drive cross-functional accountability across engineering, CS, support, MSOC, and go-to-market teams — keeping complex, multi-stakeholder programs moving without direct authority
- Maintain clear documentation, status tracking, and stakeholder communication for programs you own
- Own go-to-market readiness for features you ship — including positioning, internal enablement, and adoption planning in partnership with product marketing and sales engineering
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other PMs on the team, helping elevate product thinking and execution standards across the HRM group
Product Management Foundation
- 8+ years of product management experience, with 3+ years in B2B SaaS or enterprise software
- Proven track record owning features or product areas end-to-end — from discovery and requirements through delivery, launch, and adoption
- Strong analytical instincts — you use data to define problems, measure outcomes, and prioritize ruthlessly
- Experience driving cross-functional programs involving engineering, CS, and go-to-market teams
- Experience managing customer-facing product conversations and executive-level escalations, with the ability to balance customer needs against roadmap constraints
Domain & Technical Fluency
- Familiarity with risk management concepts. Direct cybersecurity experience is a plus
- Ability to work closely with engineering on technical decisions — you don't need to write code, but you can hold your own in architecture and data model discussions
- Comfort working with product analytics tools (Pendo, Amplitude, or equivalent) to track adoption and inform prioritization
- Proficient in leveraging generative AI tooling (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) to accelerate analysis, documentation, and prototyping workflows
Collaboration & Execution
- Strong communicator — written and verbal — with the ability to distill complex problems into clear narratives for engineering, leadership, and customers
- Detail-oriented with strong operational instincts — you can run a structured program, maintain accountability across teams, and keep things moving without being told
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity — you can structure problems, validate hypotheses, and move quickly with incomplete information
- Experience mentoring other PMs or leading through influence without direct authority
We're building the leading human risk management platform at a time when the category is being defined. Human error remains the #1 cause of security incidents, and the tools organizations use to understand and reduce that risk are evolving fast. As a Principal PM, you'll have the autonomy to shape key parts of our HRCC strategy, direct access to engineering and customers, and the backing of leadership to make meaningful product bets.
You'll be joining a globally distributed product team working alongside talented PMs across Security Behavior Management, threat protection, and platform capabilities. We value data-driven decision making, direct communication, and empowering people to own outcomes.
