Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Principal Product Manager, Core API Platform & Enablement, owns the API platform strategy and operating model for Walmart Marketplace, including the core platform components and standards that ensure APIs are consistent, reliable, and easy to adopt. This role drives cross-team alignment and launch readiness so internal teams and external developers can build scalable integrations with confidence. This role sits within Walmart Marketplace Product and works closely with engineering, developer experience, and partner teams to scale a high-impact platform used across Walmart. The team operates in a fast-paced environment with significant visibility, where strong writing, structured problem-solving, and cross-functional influence are essential. Candidates who enjoy platform strategy, developer-facing products, and leading through alignment (not authority) tend to thrive here. What you’ll bring · You will bring strong platform product management experience, with demonstrated ability to define standards and influence multiple teams without direct authority. · You will bring deep knowledge of API ecosystems and developer needs, including API usability, documentation quality, onboarding, and integration best practices. · You will bring excellent stakeholder leadership and communication skills, translating technical concepts into clear priorities, tradeoffs, and business outcomes for non-technical audiences. · You will bring execution discipline and program ownership, with a track record of aligning cross-team roadmaps and driving launches to production readiness. · You will bring structured problem-solving and judgment to navigate ambiguity, resolve conflicts, and make decisions that improve platform trust and long-term scalability. What you’ll do · You will own the API platform product direction, including building and evolving core platform components (e.g., gateway capabilities, security controls, rate limiting, telemetry/observability, and internal API management tooling) that enable consistent, secure, and reliable API delivery. · You will define and operationalize API governance and lifecycle practices, including standards for API design, documentation quality, production launch readiness, and change communication. · You will partner with domain product and engineering teams to align roadmaps and ensure Marketplace APIs are delivered consistently across business areas. · You will lead API launch enablement by ensuring go-to-market planning and adoption measurement are embedded into every release. · You will serve as the central API product SME and point of contact, providing guidance, advocacy, and escalation support for internal stakeholders and external developers. The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related area and 8 years’ experience as a product manager, ideally working on consumer-facing, large-scale, highly complex B2B/C products, Supervisory experience, We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
