Principal Product Manager, Computer Vision

san_francisconew_york Full Time

Hover helps people design, improve, and protect the properties they love. With proprietary AI built on over a decade of real property data, Hover answers age-old questions like “What will it look like?” and “What will it cost?” Homeowners, contractors, and insurance professionals rely on Hover to get fully measured, accurate, and interactive 3D models of any property — all from a smartphone scan in minutes.

At Hover, we’re driven by curiosity, purpose, and a shared commitment to serving our customers, communities, and each other. We believe the best ideas come from diverse perspectives and are proud to cultivate an inclusive, high-performance culture that inspires growth, accountability, and excellence. Backed by leading investors like Google Ventures and Menlo Ventures, and trusted by industry leaders including Travelers, State Farm, and Nationwide — we’re redefining how people understand and interact with their spaces.

Why Hover wants you

At Hover, our Computer Vision (CV) and human-in-the-loop (HITL) systems transform raw property imagery into structured outputs that fuel the most advanced property intelligence platform in the world. We’re hiring a Product leader to own the roadmap for how these systems improve over time—driving accuracy, automation, reliability, and scalability across models, tooling, and production workflows.

You’ll partner with CV/ML engineering, operations, and QA to turn ambiguous real-world data problems into clear product requirements, measurable outcomes, and shipped improvements. This is a highly cross-functional role where success means translating customer needs and business goals into a system that performs at scale (millions of properties per year) with consistently high quality and predictable SLAs.

You will contribute by

  • Own the product strategy and roadmap for our CV + HITL pipeline: accuracy, automation, throughput, cost, and customer SLA performance.
  • Translate customer and business needs into product requirements for CV/ML systems, HITL tooling, QA processes, and operational workflows.
  • Partner with CV/ML engineering to define model deployment plans, iteration cycles, and the product “surface area” around models (tooling, feedback loops, evaluation, monitoring).
  • Define and operationalize quality metrics: set targets, build scorecards, design evaluation frameworks (gold sets, sampling, audit programs), and drive quality improvements over time.
  • Drive feedback loops and prioritization: analyze errors/failure modes, quantify impact, and prioritize fixes across product, engineering, and operations.
  • Own pipeline-level instrumentation and visibility: ensure we have the dashboards, alerts, and leading indicators needed to detect drift, manage risk, and communicate performance.
  • Lead cross-functional execution across engineering, ops/QA, and vendor/BPO partners—aligning on goals, timelines, tradeoffs, and launch readiness.
  • Ship continuous improvements across tools, workflows, and vendor processes that reduce manual touch and increase automation without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Create clarity in ambiguity: write crisp problem statements, define success metrics, and make high-quality tradeoffs when speed, cost, and quality compete.

Your background includes

  • Have 8+ years of product management experience (or adjacent experience) owning technical products—ideally in CV/ML, data products, workflow tooling, or production systems.
  • Understand the ML lifecycle well enough to lead: model limitations, annotation/labeling, evaluation, edge cases, and production monitoring (you don’t need to code).
  • Are comfortable in highly cross-functional environments spanning engineering + ops + QA, and can drive alignment and execution through ambiguity.
  • Are metrics-driven and can define success rigorously (quality metrics, automation rate, cycle time, SLA attainment, cost-to-serve).
  • Have strong product judgment and can make tradeoffs when quality, speed, and cost are in tension.
