The Principal Engineer is the first level in the Technical Title functional pathway and carries design authority as well as the expectation of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, communication skills, people skills, and contributions to the technical community. Principal Engineers are recognized technical experts in a specific aspect of a discipline and its application, are effective mentors to early-career engineers, are noted for their ability to communicate technical issues throughout the organization, and are leaders applying science, engineering theory, processes, standards, best practices, and lessons learned.
As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Delivering engineering and scientific efforts related to the design of new products and services and new designs for customer projects.
Leading delivery of projects through design, verification, production, and commercialization stages.
Coordinating closely with Discipline, Research, and Testing teams as needed.
Performing rotor dynamic analysis.
Performing electrical design tasks.
Resolving customer issues.
Providing shop troubleshooting, including on-site visits when local personnel cannot resolve issues.
Supporting the OTR Engineering Team in eliminating backlog and restoring predictable, on-time deliverables.

To be successful in this role you will:
Applying Mechanical Engineering principles combining physics, chemistry, and mathematics with materials science to design, analyze, manufacture, and maintain mechanical systems.
Understanding core disciplines: mechanics, structural dynamics, rotor dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid and aerodynamics, materials science, and structural analysis.
Leveraging CAD, CAM, and product lifecycle management tools to create and analyze industrial equipment or processes such as fluid transport, liquid/gas compression, combustion, and heating/cooling systems.
