As a leader within Alcoa, you can help fulfill our purpose and realise our vision to build a legacy of excellence for future generations. Be part of the team that is helping shape a better workplace with the flexibility and equal opportunities that help everyone thrive. You have the power to shape things and individuals to make them better.

About the Role

Are you a highly analytical, results-oriented leader with a passion for transforming complex global businesses? You could be our next Principal Performance Improvements expert, based directly at our Pinjarra Hub with regular travel to Huntly and Willowdale Mine Sites in Western Australia.

This senior role puts you at the forefront as an internal consultant and change agent, responsible for maximising efficiency, driving cost savings, and embedding operational excellence across our global footprint, specifically through dedicated work at Huntly and Willowdale.

You will enjoy a family-friendly Monday to Friday roster, providing a superb paid leisure day off every four weeks to help you realise a great work-life balance and have time for the things you love. You will report directly to the WA Mining ABS Manager, guaranteeing strong strategic alignment and senior visibility for your work.

Key responsibilities include

  • Lead high-impact local operational projects, directly optimising efficiency, throughput, and output at the Huntly and Willowdale Mine Sites.

  • Apply recognised continuous improvement methodologies (such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Agile) to diagnose operational constraints, eliminate waste, and deliver sustainable gains in safety, cost, and productivity.

  • Conduct complex data analysis to quantify potential benefits, establish clear, measurable targets (KPIs), and track project financial realisation post-implementation, ensuring validation and reporting of achieved business value.

  • Effectively collaborate with and influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams globally to organise support, manage change resistance, and drive project execution.

  • Coach and mentor site-based teams and functional leaders on continuous improvement principles, fostering a culture of ownership and data-driven decision-making throughout the operation.

This role places a strong emphasis on relationship building and engaging directly with our key stakeholders who are based on-site at our mining operations. While we are committed to offering some flexible working conditions, you may be expected to serve as the face of the Business Improvement operations, spending most of your time based on-site at Huntly or Willowdale, while leading a site-based improvement initiative or project.

What’s on offer

  • Attractive remuneration and variable bonus plan.

  • Flexible hybrid working options available.

  • Employee growth and development opportunities.

  • Parental leave support for all caregivers.

  • Paid employee volunteering hours within our community.

What you can bring to the role

  • Demonstrated success in performance improvement and continuous improvement (CI) within the mining, metals, or asset-intensive heavy industry sector.

  • Proven expertise in applying formal methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred), and Agile to solve complex operational and functional problems.

  • Exceptional ability to build trust and influence senior operational and functional leaders to secure project buy-in and drive successful change adoption.

  • Advanced analytical skills to conduct root-cause analysis, quantify opportunity value, and rigorously track and report on the financial realisation of project benefits.

  • Ability to seamlessly switch between defining high-level strategic global roadmaps and providing hands-on coaching and implementation support at the local site level.

  • Demonstrated success in leading organisational change initiatives and mentoring/upskilling site teams in CI practices to ensure improvements are sustained long-term.

Additional information

  • Interviews may progress prior to the closing date, although all applications will be considered.

  • You will only be contacted if you are shortlisted for an interview, this process can take up to four weeks from the closing date.

Be part of shaping our organisation and join us in building a legacy of excellence for future generations.
