Job Title

Principal MSSQL Architect

You will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Microsoft SQL Server environments. This role supports data integrity, performance optimization, automation, and secure data transfer processes within SQL and Windows Server platforms. You will bring your expertise in Always On Availability Groups, experience in building Azure databases, and familiarity with migration from on-premises environments to Azure or AWS.

What you'll do:

• Install, configure, and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and high availability
• Write and optimize SQL queries to improve database performance, focusing on efficient data retrieval and transaction processing
• Manage backup, restore, and recovery plans to ensure data protection and disaster recovery
• Implement and maintain database security protocols, access controls, and encryption, following best practices and compliance standards
• Develop PowerShell and Python scripts for automating routine database tasks, file processing, and report generation to enhance productivity
• Use monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, and SQL Server Profiler to track database health, detect performance issues, and conduct root cause analysis
• Support and perform SQL DBA and Windows Server administration for technical product deployments, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems
• Provide support for IBM Db2 and other database platforms as needed, ensuring a cohesive data infrastructure
• Work closely with infrastructure, development, and business teams to align database solutions with organizational goals and support stability

Experience you'll need to have:

• 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator with a strong focus on installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases. Experience ensuring optimal performance, scalability, high availability, performance tuning, automation, and data security.
• 6+ years of experience with SQL Query Language and experience with PowerShell and Python scripting for automation.
• 6+ years of experience with windows server and basic network connectivity troubleshooting
• 4+ years of experience with Always On Availability Groups, configuring and maintaining high availability environments.
• 4+ years of experience in building Azure databases, including Azure SQL Database and Managed Instances
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience

Experience that would be great to have:

• Prior experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace
• Familiarity with migration processes from on-premises SQL Server to Azure or AWS, including best practices and tools for smooth transitions
• Industry certifications a plus

How you’ll work:

• Fiserv emphasizes in-person collaboration to help you grow your career while shaping the future of fintech, this role is on-site Monday through Friday

• This role requires being on-call during non-standard and/or overnight hours on a rotational basis

• This role requires flexibility to work overtime that includes weekends and holidays

• This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment

Travel:

• Approximately 0-5% travel off-site or to other office locations is expected

Salary Range

$146,000.00 - $244,800.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.
