Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.

This role is designed to be both forward-thinking and innovative, aligning with the latest industry technology and market trends. As part of the Service Design & Architecture team, the candidate will work closely with Product Management, Technology Partners, and other AT&T Technology Organizations to ensure that network services and customer requirements are met with robust technical solutions. Additionally, this position plays a key role in shaping our service roadmap, leveraging advances in emerging technologies, particularly in areas such as SDWAN, SASE, APIs and AI.

What you'll do:

As an expert in the field of SDWAN and security with focus on Velolcoud/Arista SDWAN, Palo Alto SDWAN and Security/Prisma SASE.  Applicant must have broad technical knowledge and strategic insight surrounding emerging trends and technologies to plan, develop and deploy value add network services, solve complex  problems and drive organizational results. Leads critical, high-impact projects, designs/implements new services and enhance exiting once. Works with minimal oversight, frequently consulting senior leadership, influencing product roadmaps, manage vendors technical deliverables and provide guidance to support organizations. Serves as a mentor and assists others with challenging issues.

The appropriate candidate will work as a liaison between internal AT&T organizations such as AT&T Business Solution Product, Mobility and the Alliance Partner group to both reconcile the technical feasibility and service architecture of new opportunities brought in by those organizations as well as identify new revenue opportunities using innovation of new technologies and functions. In addition, candidate will be responsible for the Design and Architecture to support existing and new services, determine certification requirements, work with various vendors and cross service organizations to fully realize the end-to-end solution.

What you'll bring:

  • Layer 2 - Layer 7 technologies
  • Access Layer - Fiber Optics, Ethernet (VLAN, VXLAN), 5G, 4G/LTE, MPLS,
  • Transport Layer – TCP/IP, QUIC, UDP, IPSEC, Wire Guard, TCP/IP, QUIC, UDP, BGP, OSPF, RIP, Static, SD-WAN overlay
  • Session Layer – Control Plane vs. Data Plane function, Application Gateways, Firewalls, Session Border Controllers, APIs
  • Application Layer – HTTPs, FTP, SD-WAN policies, Security Policies, etc.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls).
  • SD WAN Overlay policies, functionality. Resilient options, application aware routing, applied security, branch / spoke topology
  • Deploying, configuring, and managing Velocloud and Palo Alto SDWAN solutions (CloudGenix). Familiarity with site onboarding, policy configuration, routing, and troubleshooting SDWAN connectivity.
  • Prisma Access for cloud-delivered security services. Understanding of SASE architecture, including integration of networking and security in a cloud-based framework.
  • Firewall configuration, threat prevention, VPNs, and secure access controls (especially using Palo Alto Networks technologies).
  • Security policy management and incident response.
  • Routing (OSPF, BGP, static routes), switching, and WAN technologies.
  • QoS, NAT, and traffic engineering in enterprise environments 
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Experience using Velocloud Orchestrator for monitoring, policy configuration, and reporting.
  • Documentation: Ability to create and maintain technical documentation and network diagrams.Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve SD-WAN issues effectively.
  • Experience with Network Protocols: Familiarity with protocols like BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and IPSec.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Experience using Velocloud Orchestrator for monitoring, policy configuration, and reporting.
  • Customer Support: Experience providing technical support and service to internal teams or clients.

What you'll need:

  • Cloud connectivity including egress & ingress into on-ramp locations and deep understanding of Data Center Operators and their respective fabric connectivity
  • Cloud & API Integration and familiarity with API-driven automation for network and security provisioning.
  • Experience integrating SDWAN/SASE solutions with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Familiarity with AT&T Layer 2 and Layer 3 services is preferred but not mandatory

Education/Experience:

  • PhD in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Our Principal Member of Technical Staff, earns between $180,200-$270,400 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
