As a Principal I, Software Engineering you will provide hands-on experience for driving development, and maintenance of mission critical enterprise-grade Digital Health applications. This role involves hands-on experience for fixing defects, implementing enhancements, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in multiple programming languages, web development frameworks, databases, and cloud platforms in Fort Worth, TX. In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Maintain and improve existing applications for stability and performance.

  • Analyze and resolve defects promptly using root cause analysis.

  • Implement new features and enhancements aligned with business needs.

  • Define technical implementation and design for full-stack solutions.

  • Hands-on Technical expertise, conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards.

  • Mentor team members and collaborate with Architects, Product Managers and Program Managers.

  • Build scalable, secure applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern front-end frameworks (React/Angular).

  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices.

  • Integrate front-end components with back-end services for seamless user experience.

  • Implement observability measures and performance monitoring.

  • Create and maintain DataDog or New Relic dashboards for application health and metrics.

  • Ensure smooth handover to Cloud Operations with proper documentation and monitoring setup.

  • Cross functional impact analysis.

  • Ensure code quality through unit, integration, and regression testing.

  • Optimize application performance.

  • Work closely with Development team, QA engineers, and DevOps teams.

  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Structured problem‑solving, validating with data, and converge on fixes.

  • Ability to translate product goals into measurable engineering outcomes and prioritize tradeoffs.

  • Deep expertise in C++, Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs.

  • Front‑end experience with React, Angular, TypeScript, HTML5/CSS3.

  • Cloud & platform skills: AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway), Redis, RabbitMQ.

  • Observability: hands‑on with DataDog, New Relic (dashboards, monitors, APM, logs)

  • Containerization & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.

  • Strong problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Travel up to 10%
