Humana’s Health Quality and Stars (HQS) is an organization that is responsible for improving health outcomes and advancing the care experience of our members and provider partners through quality solutions. One key element of this quality rating is the operational execution and performance of the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures.
HQS is seeking the Principal of Strategic Execution and Delivery to accelerate cross-functional execution and ensure strategic initiatives are consistently delivered. This position will drive operational rigor, strategic planning, and end-to-end delivery of initiatives. The role ensures alignment across leaders, enables effective decision-making, strengthens accountability, and provides structured oversight of progress, priorities, communications, and partner engagement to turn strategy into sustained results. Success will require cultivating and maturing strong relationships with corporate and market teams, being self-directed and highly engaged, and operating with utmost integrity and authenticity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive execution of cross-functional strategic initiatives from concept through delivery
Partner with directors and senior leaders to translate strategy into actionable plans and measurable outcomes
Establish and maintain operating rhythms for planning, prioritization, progress tracking, and updates
Develop and maintain initiative roadmaps, timelines, dependencies, and delivery frameworks
Create structured storyboards and executive-ready narratives to communicate progress, risks, and decisions
Identify execution risks, bottlenecks, and resource gaps; recommend mitigation strategies
Facilitate alignment across swim lanes to ensure coordinated planning and integrated delivery
Implement accountability mechanisms, including milestone tracking and outcome reporting
Support strategic exploration efforts by shaping pilots, defining success criteria, and guiding execution paths
Manage partner and stakeholder engagement to ensure clarity of roles, expectations, and deliverables
Improve operational processes and execution methodologies over time
Provide thought partnership to leaders on prioritization, sequencing, and tradeoff decisions
Serve as a central point of visibility for initiative status, progress, and interdependencies
Enable data-informed decision-making through structured reporting and performance insights
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
8 years of experience in healthcare, clinical operations, portfolio coordination and/or consulting
Strong strategic planning experience with ability to translate strategy into actionable, measurable outcomes
Expertise in initiative management, planning frameworks, and performance tracking
Strong presentation and storyboarding development skills – visually engaging and message-driven with clarity
Proven experience leading complex cross-functional execution in matrixed environments
Confidence and comfort in conversing with senior management, business leaders and external parties
