AvidXchange is seeking a highly strategic Principal Finance Business Partner to join our FP&A organization. This senior individual contributor serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and plays a critical role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, long-range planning, and enterprise decision making. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and independent judgment, translating complex financial and operational data into insights that inform executive and board-level decisions. The Principal Finance Business Partner partners closely with senior leaders across the organization to evaluate strategic initiatives, optimize performance, and ensure financial plans align with AvidXchange’s long-term growth objectives. The ideal candidate brings deep financial expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through clear insights, rigorous analysis, and strategic thinking.
What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership & Executive Partnership
Serve as a trusted finance advisor to senior executives, influencing strategic decisions and long-term business planning
Provide independent financial perspective on key initiatives, investments, and enterprise priorities
Partner with executive leadership to shape AvidXchange’s long-range financial strategy and performance targets
Enterprise Financial Planning & Modeling
Lead development and evolution of the company’s integrated long-range financial model and enterprise forecasting frameworks
Build and maintain complex driver-based financial models that support strategic planning, investment decisions, and capital allocation
Evaluate strategic initiatives through scenario analysis, pro-forma modeling, and financial impact assessments
Corporate Performance Management
Lead corporate financial performance analysis and KPI monitoring across the organization
Provide forward-looking insights on business performance, risks, and opportunities
Translate financial data into executive-level insights that guide operational and strategic decisions
Executive & Board-Level Reporting
Develop and deliver executive and board-ready financial reporting and presentations
Communicate complex financial concepts clearly to senior leaders and non-financial stakeholders
Help shape the company’s financial narrative for leadership discussions and strategic reviews
Planning & Financial Governance
Provide leadership in the annual planning and budgeting process, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy
Evaluate internal business drivers and external macroeconomic factors impacting financial performance
Drive continuous improvement in financial planning processes, reporting automation, and data quality
Thought Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence
Influence cross-functional leaders through data-driven insights and financial expertise
Act as a thought partner on strategic initiatives including new products, investments, partnerships, and operational changes
Champion best practices in financial planning, modeling, and decision support across the FP&A function
What We're Looking For
Experience
15+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or strategic finance
Proven experience partnering directly with senior executive leaders on strategic financial decisions
Deep expertise in building integrated financial models and enterprise forecasting frameworks
Strong understanding of financial drivers within high-growth, technology, or fintech environments
Exceptional ability to synthesize complex financial analysis into clear insights for executive and board audiences
Proven ability to influence decision-making at senior leadership levels
Strong strategic mindset with the ability to connect financial insights to operational and market dynamics
Advanced experience with financial planning and analytics platforms such as Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Workday, NetSuite, Power BI, and SQL
Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing initiatives, and drive outcomes across cross-functional teams
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence without direct authority
