Faith Technologies Inc. (FTI) is searching for a Principal Engineer to support our Product Engineering Team located in either Phoenix, AZ or Menasha, WI.
As a Principal Engineer in R&D, you will lead the design, development, and testing of advanced systems for DER and power distribution applications. This role focuses on defining technology roadmaps, benchmarking and validating components against performance, efficiency, cost, and specification targets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver energy, power distribution, and power conversion solutions across multiple markets. As a company-wide subject matter expert, you will influence long-term technology strategy, build external supplier partnerships, and communicate technical insights to key stakeholders.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical).
Strong understanding of renewable energy systems, including solar, wind, power conversion, and energy storage technologies.
10+ years of experience in system design, architecture, testing, or integration of various relevant energy technologies for microgrid, power generation, and/or energy storage.
Experience with collaboration and application of modeling for system design.
Demonstrated experience providing strategic direction to company-wide product and technology roadmaps.
Advanced degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical) or equivalent
Strong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and industry standards related to the relevant energy technologies: Microgrid, Power generation, and Energy storage
Knowledge of grid integration and energy management systems
Proven track record of leading successful projects in the renewable energy sector
Experience in performance modeling and simulation of microgrid power generation components, control systems, power conversion components with Matlab/Simulink, Simscape, Amesim or similar tools
Demonstrated experience owning technology and product roadmaps for various programs
Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Overtime may be required. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
Work Location: This role is a hybrid role, and some onsite work is required. This role can be located either out of the Phoenix, AZ or Menasha, WI location.
Characterize, benchmark, and define requirements for design, development of proof-of-concept prototypes, and testing of various components and technologies
Responsible for characterizing size, performance, efficiency, cost, and requirements for various components and technologies used for DER and power distribution in microgrid, EV charging, and data center applications
Develop and maintain documentation on component specifications, selection analysis, requirements, and simulation analysis
Work closely with systems simulation and FEA/CFD engineers to communicate requirements, performance targets, and boundary conditions for modeling and simulation analysis
Lead evaluation and benchmarking of new and competitive technologies
Collaborate with controls software engineers to establish guidelines and performance targets for energy management systems, microgrid controllers, and other functional design
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on power electronics system design, thermal management system design, and packaging/manufacturing design
Collaborate with Verification & Validation team to define DVP&Rs for battery energy storage system testing
Define and lead development processes and tasks related to implementation of the technology roadmap and product strategy across multiple functions and engineers in the Product Engineering organization
Provide strategic guidance as subject matter expert across multiple company programs and projects requiring technology expertise
