Position Overview

Autodesk Fusion is the first 3D CAD, CAM, CAE, and PCB tool of its kind, unifying design, engineering, electronics, and manufacturing to connect entire product development process into one cloud-based platform. We are looking for a passionate Principal Software Engineer to join our scrum team in Bengaluru, India contributing to the Fusion Manufacturing Data Model (MFGDM). MFGDM is the foundation of the Manufacturing Cloud and the core data framework for Autodesk's flagship product, Autodesk Fusion. You will report to the manager and work in a hybrid mode.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with global MFGDM development group (US, Canada, India, China, and others) by leading and mentoring a 6–7-member Scrum team.

  • Own the architecture, design, implementation, and validation of complex MFGDM modules and platform components, ensuring technical excellence and long-term maintainability.

  • Drive engineering quality by establishing best practices, creating tools and frameworks for resiliency analysis, performance / scalability / stability monitoring, automation testing, and operational efficiency.

  • Lead and contribute to global technical discussions, influencing design decisions, technology choices, and strategic technical roadmap initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation across the platform and champion initiatives from conception through execution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or higher in computer science or related technical discipline.

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including experience leading teams of 3+ engineers.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript, or strong backend experience with Java.

  • Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React.js) for front-end exposure.

  • Proven experience designing and building cloud-native applications on AWS, using services such as Step Functions, DynamoDB, IAM, EC2, CloudWatch, and Lambda.

  • Experience developing cloud-native applications with Agile/Scrum methodologies.

  • Good understanding of relational and NoSQL database technologies.

  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices for large-scale systems.

  • Awareness of modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in modern C++ development.

  • Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming, SOLID principles, and enterprise-level system design.

  • Experience designing and integrating GraphQL APIs in distributed or cloud-native systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to take on complex engineering challenges, operate with autonomy, and drive outcomes beyond your comfort zone.
