About the role

As a senior technical leader, the Principal Engineer – Energy Asset Technology will shape the future of IT and OT for Energy Assets. You’ll provide technical authority and strategic guidance, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as cloud, IIoT, AI/ML, and automation to deliver secure, scalable solutions. This role partners closely with Architecture, Cyber Security, and Operational Technology teams to develop technology roadmaps, set rigorous standards, and lead complex initiatives that support the energy transition. You’ll mentor technical staff, foster collaboration, and champion innovation to uplift team capability and deliver transformational outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship across enterprise and operational technology environments.

  • Design and deliver secure, scalable solutions using AI/ML, IIoT, edge computing, cloud, and automation.

  • Lead complex technology projects, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and timely delivery.

  • Collaborate with Architecture, Cyber Security, IT, and OT teams to develop robust infrastructure and security solutions.

  • Develop technology strategies and roadmaps that drive innovation and support the energy transition.

  • Identify and mitigate risks while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

  • Champion continuous improvement and foster a collaborative, service-driven culture.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven ability to lead through influence, mentor technical teams, and foster innovation across diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong strategic thinking and communication skills to shape priorities into effective technology strategies.

  • Deep technical expertise across networking, cloud, virtualisation, IIoT, AI/ML, and OT/IT security principles.

  • Advanced problem-solving and planning skills to deliver complex, secure, and scalable solutions.

  • A collaborative mindset with flexibility to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement.
