Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer/ Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer in support of the Sentinel program. This position is located: Roy, UT.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The Command System team oversees the ground design of multiple electrical components required at different Sentinel weapon system facilities located across the nation.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings
Support formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Ensure appropriate coordination between electrical design and other integration teams.
Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
Conduct electrical analysis and/or develop LRU electrical designs
Develop Product Definition Packages (PDPs)/Analysis Data Packages (ADPs) and take them through the full review and release process.
Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect connect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies.
May perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.
Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree or 0 years of relevant experience with a PhD
Position may be filled one level higher - Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of experience, or 7 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 4 years of experience with a PhD
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.
Electrical engineering experience in at least two of the following fields: electrical architecture, power systems, cable design, circuit design, interface definition (internal and/or external), or power distribution.
Knowledge of industry/military codes and standards, including mil-specs, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, and UFC.
Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).
Preferred Qualifications:
Working experience designing, troubleshooting (RCA) and/or implementing ground power systems, facility power systems and/or launch power systems.
Experience with high-power and/or high-frequency systems, including power electronics.
Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
Authorship and release of engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
Working experience with designing cables to IPC/WHMA-A-620
Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities
