Principal Embedded Software Engineer – Loudspeaker Expert & Audio DSP

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced embedded software engineer to design and implement loudspeaker and haptics centric algorithms and the embedded firmware that powers next-generation audio products in consumer segment. You will own the full lifecycle—from modeling and algorithm development to fixed‑point implementation, optimization, verification, and productization on resource‑constrained MCUs/DSPs.

What You’ll Do

  • Design loudspeaker/haptics centric algorithms including excursion/thermal limiting, power compression and adaptive limiters.
  • Prototype in MATLAB/Python and translate to fixed‑point C/C++ with deterministic real‑time behavior.
  • Model loudspeaker behavior and calibrate models with lab data for robust protection thresholds.
  • Implement and optimize DSP components using SIMD, CMSIS‑DSP, or vendor libraries.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering teams on amplifier, thermal, and acoustic integration.
  • Develop validation and verification tests, including acoustic performance testing.
  • Drive production readiness including code quality, deterministic scheduling, and telemetry.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in EE/CE/CS or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in embedded firmware and audio/DSP.
  • Strong C/C++ skills for bare-metal and RTOS systems.
  • Hands-on fixed‑point DSP implementation.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and/or Python for modeling.
  • Familiarity with I2S/TDM, audio codecs, and embedded toolchains.
  • Experience with loudspeaker protection or real‑time audio control algorithms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of acoustics of loudspeakers and haptic transducers.
  • Experience with speaker modeling including thermal/excursion models.
  • Experience with acoustic measurements and tools such as Audio Precision and Klippel.

For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export  licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.  As such, applicants for this position – except US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) – may have to go through an export licensing review process.
