Position Summary: 

GIP is seeking to hire a Principal to join its Digital Infrastructure Private Equity investment team. The Principal will play a leading role in sourcing, evaluating, structuring, negotiating, financing, executing, and monitoring investments across data centers and other digital infrastructure subsectors, on behalf of both GIP’s Flagship Fund and the Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership (AIP) fund.

Principals own transactions from origination through execution, lead deal teams, engage with senior management teams and counterparties, and contribute to portfolio value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Due Diligence & Deal Execution: Lead end‑to‑end transaction execution, including underwriting, financial modeling, structuring, due diligence, legal documentation, negotiation, and closing. Identify and mitigate investment risks through deep analytical and sector expertise. Provide input and direction on critical assumptions, operating, and financing drivers.
  • Origination & Strategy: Source and identify digital infrastructure investment opportunities, including platform investments, joint ventures, add on acquisitions, and related financings.
  • Investment Committee: Drive investment committee materials and present investment recommendations with clarity, rigor, and conviction.
  • Portfolio Oversight & Value Creation: Monitor and support portfolio companies on strategy, budgeting, capital allocation, corporate development, and exit planning. Work closely with GIP’s Business Improvement team to identify and execute post‑close value creation and growth initiatives.
  • Team & Relationship Building: Lead and mentor junior team members; build and maintain strong relationships with management teams, boards, advisors, co‑investors, and other industry participants.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in private equity investing and/or investment banking, with a strong preference for prior private equity experience
  • Deep sector expertise in digital infrastructure, including data centers, with a strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and regulatory considerations
  • Proven track record of originating, leading, and executing complex transactions
  • Superior financial modeling, valuation, and risk assessment skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead deal teams and manage multiple workstreams independently
  • Exceptional negotiation, influencing, and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a high degree of professionalism and integrity
  • Focus on talent development, with the ability to provide and receive feedback effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic background
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$250,000.00 - USD$300,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
