Principal, Credit Structuring, Asia Pacific

Position Overview

Apollo is seeking a highly accomplished, proactive, and commercially minded Principal to join its Credit Structuring team in APAC.

This individual will be responsible for originating, structuring, and executing bespoke credit solutions across the corporate and asset-backed finance markets.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in private credit, exceptional structuring and underwriting capabilities, and a strategic mindset to drive Apollo’s continued growth across the region. They will also possess strong communication and influencing skills, combined with a strong desire to expand Apollo’s platform across asset classes and markets in APAC.

Primary Responsibilities

Origination & Structuring:

• Lead the structuring of complex transactions including direct lending, asset-backed finance, and specialty lending
• Develop tailored financing solutions across the whole corporate capital structure (senior secured, senior unsecured, subordinated, structured equity) and specialty lending platforms.
• Collaborate with origination platforms globally across private equity, hybrid value, infrastructure, aviation, equipment, trade finance, and other sectors.

Underwriting & Execution:

• Oversee deal documentation, covenant structuring, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure timely and efficient execution of transactions with certainty and speed.
• Occasionally assist corporate underwriters in their credit analysis and due diligence across sectors and geographies.

Strategic Leadership:

• Drive strategic initiatives to expand Apollo’s credit footprint in APAC.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to talent development.
• Represent Apollo in client meetings, industry forums, and investor engagements.

Qualifications & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in credit structuring, investment banking, or private credit investing
• Prior experience in M&A Investment Banking or Large-cap private equity is a plus
• Prior experience structuring esoteric asset classes or at an investment firm with a focus on opportunistic credit is a plus
• Strong initiative and ownership of responsibilities – must demonstrate a proactive, positive attitude toward given tasks.
• Self-starter with a willingness to execute projects on a small, nimble team.
• Proven track record executing complex credit transactions documentation and working with external legal counsel
• Excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills are mandatory.
• Excellent oratory skills are mandatory.
• Familiarity with rating agency methodologies.
• Strong presentation and communication abilities, detail orientation and an exceptional technical skillset.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rigorous work environment; demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
• Team-oriented and collaborative attitude is a must.
