Northrop Grumman is looking for an experienced hybrid Principal Cinematographer/Editor to join our talented in-house communications and advertising team of qualified, highly engaged and enthusiastic communications professionals focused on the promotion and publicity of our people, products and the mission they support.

This position will be located at our Space Park Campus in Redondo Beach, CA. This is not a remote position.

The ideal candidate is experienced with different camera systems and gimbal rigs, has a deep understanding of lighting, can set up interviews (including audio), and knows how to combine it all on an edit timeline. In terms of editing, a narrative sensibility is required. Editing projects can fluctuate between longer narrative segments and 30 second vertical social media spots.

This Cinematographer/Editor will be shooting products for various programs, interviewing employees/executives when needed, and representing the brand through a talented and critical eye for visual storytelling. Interest/experience with 180 3D VR, immersive experiences, or new visual mediums is a bonus. The candidate will be joining a team of established creatives and collaborating with art directors, designers, photographers, filmmakers, editors, animators and Web UX/UI artists. Qualified candidates must be prepared to thrive in a highly active environment that demands collaboration, innovative thinking, creative storytelling and use of digital tools to effectively communicate to employees, customers, the public, industry, stakeholders and others.

Qualified candidates must have experience in video editing software such as Premiere or DaVinci Resolve and extensive knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office platform, and the ability to work on Mac/PC operating systems. The candidate will work on multiple projects, perform to tight deadlines, be attentive to details, and possess solid communication/time management skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in Film, Cinematography, or Digital Media OR Master's degree and 3 years of experience in Film, Cinematography, or Digital Media OR Associate's degree and 7 years of experience in Film, Cinematography, or Digital Media OR High School Diploma and 9 years of experience in Film, Cinematography, or Digital Media.

  • Experience operating a variety of video cameras and formats including Log and Raw.

  • Experience setting up and executing interviews including lighting & audio.

  • Experience with film/video editing and understanding of post-production workflows.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite such as Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • Client management experience and ability to work independently and collaboratively on a multimedia team.

  • Extended work week including weekend support may be required at times.

  • Proficient using Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain a DOD Secret level security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating and directing the execution of creative assignments for advertising, news, publicity, and/or technical use.

  • Deep understanding of cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, digital sensors, and post-production workflows.

  • Ability to convey narrative, mood, and emotion through shot composition, framing, and movement, even without sound.

  • A strong sense of aesthetics, color theory, and visual design, often developed through art/photography studies or self-practice.

  • Experience working on motion graphics and animation.

  • Drone operation is a plus.

  • Experience with Adobe After Effects is a plus.

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
