WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT FOR US
As our application landscape expands across core platforms Workday, Salesforce, Microsoft Fabric, Atlassian suite and multiple supporting SaaS systems, SimCorp wants to add more focus on coherent cross‑application architecture.
Platform teams excel within their domains and we want to strengthen with a new unifying architectural role that will ensure applications interact consistent, scalable, reliable, and maintainable. This role will lead how we standardize systems integrations, overview and how architectural decisions support the wider ecosystem — shifting integrations into a governed area.
As our Principal Application Architect, you will take a holistic view of the application landscape and define how systems integrate. Working closely with the Cloud Architect, engineering teams, and IT leadership, you will lead how we shape our architectural standards and guide teams in implementing integration patterns that enable efficient collaboration across systems.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Architectural Direction & Standards
Define and maintain enterprise standards for application integrations, communication patterns, and cross‑platform design.
Establish and evolve reference architectures, ensuring alignment with cloud platform strategy and long‑term landscape principles.
Own and mature our integration capability, including patterns, tooling, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
Cross‑Platform Solution Design
Provide architectural oversight to ensure platform solutions (Workday, Salesforce, Fabric, Atlassian, and others) align with enterprise‑level principles rather than isolated domain needs.
Design or guide integration solutions in collaboration with platform teams, ensuring they are maintainable, secure, and scalable.
Assess existing integrations to identify opportunities for simplification, risk reduction, and standardization.
Strategic Collaboration
Work closely with the Cloud Architect to align application architecture with infrastructure and cloud capabilities.
Collaborate with the IT leadership to ensure architectural decisions support strategic priorities.
Partner with platform teams, business stakeholders, and technical leads to ensure architectural alignment across initiatives.
Coaching & Leadership
Act as a mentor to engineers and platform specialists, elevating skills in integration design and architectural thinking.
Promote a culture of architectural excellence, fostering shared understanding and adoption of best practices.
WHAT WE VALUE
Proven experience as an Application Architect, Solution Architect, or senior engineer with architectural responsibilities.
Strong background in application integrations across complex SaaS environments.
Solid understanding of API design, event‑driven architecture, message queues, middleware/iPaaS tools, and common integration patterns.
Experience aligning application architecture with cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
Familiarity with MDM, data governance, and enterprise architecture frameworks like Well-Architecture Frameworks is a plus.
Ability to translate architectural principles into practical guidance for engineering teams.
Strong collaboration skills, especially when working across multiple platforms and stakeholder groups.
Curiosity and a continuous‑improvement mindset — always seeking opportunities to raise architectural maturity and system cohesion.
