14The Role: Principal AI Architect
Responsibilities and Impact:
Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale AI architectures that drive innovation across S&P Global's financial data and analytics platforms
Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable AI solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and technical standards
Architect and oversee the development of machine learning pipelines, model deployment frameworks, and AI infrastructure that support real-time financial analytics and decision-making
Mentor and guide engineering teams on AI best practices, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns while fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence
Drive technical strategy for AI initiatives, evaluating and recommending cutting-edge technologies, tools, and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage
Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to define AI roadmaps, assess technical feasibility, and communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and business audiences
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is 150,000 – 300,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.

What We're Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
8+ years of experience in software architecture with 5+ years specifically focused on AI/ML systems design and implementation
Deep expertise in machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or Keras, with proven ability to architect production-scale ML systems
Strong programming proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or R, with experience in distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar technologies
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including AI/ML services, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code tools
Proven track record of leading technical teams and driving complex AI projects from conception to production deployment
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in financial services, capital markets, or data analytics industries with understanding of regulatory requirements and data governance
Expertise with MLOps practices and tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar platforms for model lifecycle management and automated deployment pipelines
Knowledge of big data technologies including streaming platforms (Apache Kafka, Apache Pulumi), NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra), and real-time processing frameworks
Strong background in natural language processing, computer vision, or other specialized AI domains relevant to financial data analysis and insights generation
