Pricing Manager

The Japan Internal Pricing team focuses on two of Manulife’s key strategic priorities: Accelerating Growth and Portfolio Optimization. The team is responsible for developing and pricing new business products, as well as enhancing existing products through repricing or reinsurance optimization.

This Pricing Manager role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Manulife Japan’s new business, through influencing product design, risk management and cross-functional collaboration. The successful candidate will gain exposure to strategic decision-making, enhanced actuarial modeling capabilities, and play a pivotal role in new business planning. This position also provides a platform for professional growth through leadership, technical mentorship, and engagement with diverse stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform the pricing of Life and Wealth products, contribute innovative ideas to deliver competitive and sustainable product designs
  • Present and communicate pricing recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, drive sound pricing decisions and support risk management objectives
  • Collaborate with Product, Distribution, Risk Management, Asset Liability Management, Hedging, and other internal teams to ensure seamless implementation of new products
  • Support internal governance and work with regulatory review teams for product approval
  • Refine pricing methodologies, enhance actuarial models and tools, and provide technical guidance to junior team members
  • Negotiate reinsurance treaties with affiliate and external reinsurance partners

Required Qualifications:

  • ASA/FSA/FCIA designation
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working within an actuarial/finance area
  • Proactive, solution-oriented and keen to bring fresh perspectives to product design and pricing
  • A dependable team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
  • Clear and confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience using industry-standard modeling tools (specifically Axis or PathWise)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous pricing experience with Life or Wealth products
  • Background in coding (specifically VBA and Python)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel data analysis
  • Business level Japanese (e.g. JLPT N2)

Salary Range is expected to be between

$8,000,000 JPY - $14,000,000 JPY
