Dow has an opportunity for a Pricing Data Scientist/Work Process Lead in Commercial Support within the Global Commercial Discipline team, to be located in Midland, MI.

About you and this role

As a Pricing Data Scientist/Work Process Lead, you will work with a cross-functional team whose objective is to deliver analytics solutions to help drive business value at Dow. You will help identify new pricing analytics opportunities and lead the design and development of analytics solutions. Projects can include existing Analytics model and/or enhancements of advanced models in different business or functional domains. We are seeking candidates who have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Optimization, Forecasting, Text mining, deep learning, AI/ML solution development as well as programming experience. 

You will work with a multi-disciplinary team (analysts/designers/developers/work process owners/support) to:

  • Create valuable contributions to analytics projects.
  • Lead data analysis to develop solutions in Azure or other analytics tools emphasizing efficiency, reliability and automation.
  • Identify opportunities for innovating with digital capabilities aiming to accelerate Dow’s digital transformation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of end-to-end data science analytics solutions using associated technologies.
  • Communicate data-driven recommendations to the stakeholders to enable the business objective.
  • Lead development and implementation of global plans for the work process(es) under your responsibility.
  • Work closely with Area Service Leaders and lead the Area SME network to understand needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead contact for all issues related to their work process for all activities, which includes level 3 support, projects and implementations.
  • Define project metrics required to achieve plans and strategies.
  • Define how targets/goals/timelines/control plan will be monitored throughout the work process.
  • Lead the development of global training & content.
  • Provide deep functional & technical expertise for work process, applications & products.
  • Act as consultant to the Commercial organization and global cross-functional partners on work process, system, audit and reporting expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree discipline in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science or Statistics.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages for data analysis, ideally Python, SQL, or R.
  • Experience with different data models, data analytics techniques, Machine learning and AI algorithms.
  • Experience with data extraction, data manipulation and data visualization techniques (such as Power BI).
  • Data Analytics, Commercial, Customer Service, Order to Cash and/or Pricing experience.
  • Development of machine learning models, validation and maintenance using Python.
  • Data preprocessing, harmonization, and feature engineering to prepare modeling datasets.
  • Knowledge of Visual Studio SQL Server Data Tools, SAP BW, Power BI.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing environment such as Microsoft Azure required for developing and implementing data science solutions.
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning techniques.
  • Participation in sizable global projects.
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring and leading peers.
  • Facilitation experience (leading meetings/conference calls).
