Preventive Quality Engineer

The role offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement, allowing significant work-from-home possibilities while maintaining occasional in-office presence based on business needs.

Job Duties

  • Responsable for developing, implementing, and maintaining proactive quality assurance strategies to prevent defects, nonconformities, and process deviations before they occur.
  • Bridge design, manufacturing, and supplier quality functions to ensure that products meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal quality goals from the earliest stages of development through mass production and post-delivery.
  • Integrate Preventive Quality into the Product Creation Process leveraging tools such as APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) across Topcon Positioning Systems, subsidiaries, and suppliers.
  • Participate in design reviews to provide input on manufacturability, reliability, and quality risks.
  • Ensure lessons learned from previous projects are documented and applied to new products and processes.
  • Deploy and improve tools and processes across all functions focused on improving new product launch quality, reliability and functional safety.
  • Use data analytics and trend monitoring to detect early warning signs of potential quality problems.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing defects, scrap, and rework.
  • Support strategies to outsource manufacturing
  • Assist in developing supply chain risk mitigation plans
  • Define incoming inspection requirements and work with suppliers to improve quality at the source.
  • Establish process controls and preventive maintenance plans to ensure consistent production quality.
  • Work with functional teams to determine the root cause of critical issues and implement preventive and corrective actions

Minimum Requirements for job:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 3–5 years of experience in quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related role

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and root cause analysis tools.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality development.
  • Proactive, data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Supply chain management expertise.
  • Quality control knowledge.
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective training.
  • Self-motivated /self-starter with the ability to find creative solutions.
  • Executive-level presentation abilities
  • The good knowledge of the English language is mandatory to perform the job
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and well-organized working style.
