Prevention Program Field Representative


About the Position: The individual selected for this position will work in the Prevention Division of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). Under general supervision, this position will serve as a liaison between ODMHSAS, community organizations, schools, state agencies, and more to support the goals of the school-based prevention services team. Key responsibilities include conducting school outreach, supporting schools in the implementation of prevention programs, collaborating with internal and external partners to plan and develop needed prevention services, providing or coordinating technical assistance and training, monitoring programs and projects, and assisting with recruitment and education efforts with schools regarding participation in the Oklahoma Prevention Needs Assessment survey.  This position also ensures compliance with ODMHSAS standards, evidence-based strategy requirements, and other applicable governing/codified standards in managing and delivering prevention services. This is an on-site, fully in-office position located in Oklahoma City with local in-state travel required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Human Relations, Psychology, Public Health, Public Administration, Education, or related.
  • Two years of experience in substance abuse prevention or other related prevention, public health or behavioral health.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with schools, youth-serving organizations, and community-serving organizations.
  • Certified Prevention Specialist

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and three years of professional experience in social work, child support, adult protective services, child welfare, early childhood development and education, guidance and counseling, nursing, intellectual disability, probation and parole, public administration, community-based prevention and diversionary youth services programs, juvenile justice, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation or vocational rehabilitation,
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of additional qualifying experience for each year of the required education.

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
