The Preventative Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for developing, coordinating, and executing maintenance programs that ensure maximum uptime, reliability, and performance of production equipment in an electronics manufacturing environment. This role leads maintenance activities focused on preventing equipment failures, identifying emerging issues through data-driven analysis, and supporting continuous improvement across SMT, assembly, test, and automation equipment.
Plan, schedule, and execute preventative maintenance tasks for production and facilities equipment, ensuring compliance with OEM recommendations and internal standards.
Maintain accurate PM documentation, checklists, and logs within the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Ensure PM frequency, scope, and methods effectively reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Implement and manage predictive maintenance strategies using vibration analysis, thermal imaging, electrical testing, SPC data, equipment trend monitoring, and other diagnostic tools.
Analyze equipment performance metrics to identify trends, wear patterns, and early indicators of failure.
Recommend corrective actions based on predictive data and support root-cause analysis.
Lead, coach, and support maintenance technicians in performing PM and PdM tasks.
Train technicians on new maintenance procedures, diagnostic tools, and safety practices.
Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality teams to minimize downtime during scheduled maintenance windows.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, enforcing compliance with all OSHA, EHS, and site-specific regulations.
Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize electronics manufacturing equipment (e.g., SMT lines, printers, reflow ovens, AOI/X-ray systems, ICT/functional test systems, robotics, conveyors, ESD systems).
Collaborate with equipment suppliers and engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Support the integration of new technologies, upgrades, and equipment installations.
Recommend and implement improvements to equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and spare parts strategies.
Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM initiatives to reduce downtime and increase asset performance.
Track KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, PM completion rates, and unplanned downtime.
Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of maintenance experience in electronics manufacturing, semiconductor, or high-tech production environment.
Experience leading maintenance teams or acting as a senior technician preferred.
Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing equipment and automated production systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and predictive technologies (e.g., thermography, vibration analysis, oscilloscopes, power analyzers).
Experience using CMMS systems for scheduling and documentation.
Ability to read schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
Strong leadership, communication, and training capabilities.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced production environment.
High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
