What You'll Do:

  • Performs all duties to ensure department and plant meet daily and weekly production requirements.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools consistent with local and national codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problems
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Learn from Electrician II and III to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Perform business management duties, such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Run conduit inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.

When and Where:

This will be a 1st Shift /5:00 AM- 5:00 PM M-F position located at our Plant in Kansas City, Missouri. 

Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests. 

What You Need to Have:

  • Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions.
  • Must be able to analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions in equipment and related components, diagnosing and correcting the problems quickly to avoid production delays.
  • Must be able to do electrical controls work PLC (revise or improve) with guidance from a Controls Engineer
  • Must have a strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and working knowledge of electrical machine components, electronic circuits and pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Must be able to read electrical schematichs and understand electrical principals and codes.
  • Must have a working knowledge of electrical meters and instruments such as brush recorders, multi-funciton meters, and programmable controls and associated equipment. Good computer skills are important.
  • Requires skill in the use of electrical hand tools.
  • Must be able to perform the electrical Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all plant equipment.
  • Must know and follow established safety procedures, including a working knowledge of OSHA & MIOSHA.
  • Must be able to pass necessary electrician testing and LOTO certification.
