Job Summary:

The Pre-Analytical Services Associate supports routine clinical specimen management activities, including receipt, quality checks, storage coordination, and shipment. This role helps ensure specimens and documentation are handled accurately, safely, and in compliance with company procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Assist with receipt of consignments and shipments, ensuring materials are processed according to procedures
  • Open shipments and perform quality checks of patient information forms, escalating missing/incorrect information or damaged shipments to senior staff
  • Conduct secondary checks to ensure specimens are not left in kit packaging and that shipping materials are cleared appropriately
  • Dispose of and/or recycle kit shipping supplies correctly and maintain an organized, clean work area
  • Prepare and ship specimens for long-term storage, client requests, and sample disposition activities
  • Support after-hours alarms and other job-critical functions as required by the functional area
  • Assist with equipment upkeep, supply inventory tasks, and general workstation maintenance

What We Are Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills to support documentation and administrative activities related to specimen receipt, storage, and shipment
  • Ability to perform shipment and documentation quality checks and follow established workflow and reporting procedures
  • Other Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed for This Role:

  • Strong attention to detail when handling specimens, documentation, and packaging checks
  • Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures, control workflow, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients
  • Commitment to safety procedures and willingness to participate in continuing education through self-study and meetings
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, close eye work requirement (computer, typing, reading small prints). Physical demands vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Occasional exposure to cold temperatures.

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $24,400.00 - $50,900.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
