Practice Acceleration Manager - Real Estate

General Description:

As a Practice Acceleration Manager, you’ll work at the intersection of law and technology to improve legal service delivery, efficiency, and profitability through smart workflows, practical and responsible use of legal tech, including AI, and process enhancements. You’ll combine expertise in law, technology, business analysis, and process improvement to advise and execute innovation initiatives within assigned practice areas, and drive adoption of these initiatives through effective change management. Acting as a liaison between the KM Team and real estate-focused practice groups, you will leverage an in-depth understanding of real estate legal workflows and practice-specific considerations to identify opportunities for innovation that promote client value, and design and implement tech-enabled solutions that improve the efficiency, quality, and sophistication of their practices.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

Operational Excellence and Practice Support

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and thought partner to attorneys and legal professionals, with a focus on supporting real estate attorneys by assessing practice needs, identifying workflow and technology pain points, and recommending innovative, practical solutions.

  • Apply practical experience and/or subject-matter familiarity with real estate legal work to inform solution design, training, and attorney support.

  • Apply demonstrated familiarity with AI‑enabled legal tools and workflows, including appropriate use cases, limitations, and quality controls, and ability to support responsible adoption aligned with Firm policies and client requirements.

  • Spearhead ongoing awareness and adoption of KM tools and practices including development of training materials and timely and practical hands-on training and guidance to attorneys and legal professionals.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to connect colleagues with the relevant information, resources, work product and/or other colleagues in response to requests for information.

  • Support and collaborate with peers to promote and support KM initiatives and exchange best practices.

  • Display high level of professionalism and customer service/support.

  • Regularly represent the KM Team in meetings and presentations.

  • Communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, accessible manner to legal professionals and clients.

  • Promote and encourage use of the Firm’s Knowledge Bank within assigned practice groups, and maintain and continuously update content within the system.

  • Assist with precedent resource requests and knowledge maintenance.

  • Special projects and any other duties as assigned or required.

Solution Development & Implementation

  • Ongoing support for and deep familiarity with KM resources and solutions in order to provide planned, ad hoc and just-in-time training and serve as a resource for troubleshooting and enhancements.

  • Help evaluate and assess legal tech for potential applicability and effectiveness in legal practice and processes.

  • Support design and development of legal tech solutions, including conducting technology pilots and proofs of concept and assisting with usability and accessibility testing.

  • Support rollout and change management efforts to ensure successful technology adoption within practice groups.

  • As part of building and refining solutions, gather and prioritize solution requirements from attorneys and legal professionals.

  • Monitor legal tech trends and advise colleagues on emerging tools and best practices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.

Project Management & Reporting

  • Support multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.

  • Regularly track usage, adoption, and performance metrics of solutions/sites to evaluate impact and guide improvements.

  • Prepare reports and presentations for KM and firm leadership.

    • Demonstrated ability to apply business analysis skills to systematically assess problems, gather balanced input, draw sound conclusions, and translate them into decisions and actions; comfortable asking questions and guiding others as needed.

    • Proficiency in communicating complex concepts and their value in tangible, easily understood terms (technology and legal concepts) to a variety of stakeholders.

    • Familiarity with the legal innovation and legal technology ecosystem, including practical applications, benefits, and risks of generative AI in legal work, preferred.

    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

  • Communication

    • Outstanding communication skills that enable clear, effective, concise oral and written communication of technical and legal information to all levels of the organization – including non-technical users, members of other department, and leadership.

    • Ability to liaise with attorneys and other non-technical users and translate their needs into solutions.

    • High level of customer service.

    • Ability to work effectively, both independently and with others, in a cooperative, enthusiastic, and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts;

    • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships and aptitude for building consensus and facilitating change.

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. J.D. preferred.

  • At least 5 years of experience in the legal industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.

This position may be filled in District of Columbia, or New York.  In accordance with applicable Pay Transparency Laws, the pay range for this position in these locations is $146,000 – $219,000 yearly. This range may not be applicable to other locations.  An individual's actual compensation will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience. In addition to the base compensation, Holland & Knight provides bonus opportunities and an exceptional benefits package.
