At Freshfields, we connect people and knowledge to deliver market-leading legal services. We are seeking a proactive and intellectually curious individual to join our global Knowledge function as a Knowledge & Information Services Assistant, supporting our renowned People & Reward practice. This is a unique opportunity to develop a deep understanding of employment, incentives, and pensions law at a world-leading firm, working at the intersection of law, technology, and information management.
What You'll Do
As a key member of our team, you will be at the heart of our legal intelligence operations. You won’t just be supporting our lawyers; you’ll be empowering them. In this dynamic role, you will:
Be on the pulse of the legal world: Help our team stay ahead by tracking key cases, researching legal and market developments, and drafting insightful updates for our lawyers and clients.
Curate our collective wisdom: Take ownership of our internal knowledge collections, ensuring our expert knowhow is captured, organised, and instantly accessible to our global team.
Create and innovate: Support the development of essential knowledge products, from standard forms and practice notes to client reports and podcasts, helping to shape how we share our expertise.
Become a resource guru: Develop a comprehensive understanding of our cutting-edge external databases and internal SharePoint sites, acting as a guide for the practice and helping to train your colleagues.
Drive strategy and collaboration: Work alongside senior Knowledge Lawyers, attend strategy meetings, and contribute to firmwide projects that enhance our ability to deliver exceptional client service.
Who You Are
We are looking for a motivated and collaborative individual who is eager to build a career in the legal knowledge and information sector. You are a natural problem-solver with a strong desire to learn and contribute.
What You'll Bring:
A university degree or equivalent experience, coupled with strong research and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and oral English.
A confident, proactive approach with the ability to take initiative and manage your own workload.
Exceptional organisational skills and a meticulous eye for detail.
Proficiency with technology, particularly Microsoft 365 tools like Excel.
A collaborative spirit and the ability to build strong professional relationships.
A keen interest in the commercial world and the legal industry.
We’d be especially excited to hear from you if you have:
A degree in law or relevant experience in employment, incentives, or pensions law.
Experience in a law firm, professional services environment, or a similar library, research, or knowledge-focused role.
Familiarity with SharePoint, content publishing, or database maintenance (though full training will be provided).
We are committed to building a diverse team and believe that your unique skills and passion could make you the right candidate.
Why Join Us?
This role offers a superb platform for professional growth within a prestigious global law firm. You will be part of a supportive and forward-thinking global Knowledge team, reporting to a manager dedicated to your development. You will work directly with our expert lawyers on a wide range of transactional, advisory, and contentious matters, gaining invaluable insight into a complex and fascinating area of law. With opportunities for occasional travel to our London office and involvement in firmwide projects, this is more than a job—it’s a career path.
Inclusion
Freshfields is an equal opportunities employer and all applications received by the firm will be considered by the firm on the basis of their merit alone and we welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals regardless of background. All offers of employment will be conditional on the candidate having/securing the right to work in the UK and providing the firm with evidence of that right (as required by the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006) prior to employment commencing.
Freshfields is a Ban the Box employer. We ask applicants to disclose criminal convictions only when a conditional job offer is made. A conviction does not automatically lead to withdrawal of the offer: we make decisions on a case by case basis and take a number of factors into account (eg the role you are applying for and the circumstances of the offence). You would have the opportunity to discuss the matter with us before we make a decision.
