The PPI Business System Specialist III will drive implementation of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System for the Highland Heights site.  In this role, you will work closely with the site and business leadership to drive problem-solving and a continuous improvement culture.  This position combines project management, facilitation, leadership and continuous improvement skills for the development of standards, best practices, and performance improvements across the business unit


What will you do?

As part of the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System, the individual will work with all levels to drive continuous improvements that enable growth, improve quality and elevate customer and employee experience. This role engages teams to build lean capability and streamline processes.

  • Act as a role model and leader with a positive mentality and a passion for achieving short-term and long-term goals.
  • Develop a culture that drives continuous improvement in critical metrics for customer, finance, people, and quality
  • Educate site employees on PPI Business System methodologies and applications through project work, individual mentoring, classroom training, and other methods as needed.
  • Lead Kaizen events to effectively solve problems and assure safety, quality and productivity improvements.
  • Ensure Practical Process Improvement (PPI) projects accurately identify root cause and systemic issues and deliver effective countermeasures.
  • Partner with Operations and support functions to ensure solutions are implemented and deliver intended results.
  • Participate in the site PPI steering committee to identify ways to accelerate the culture change necessary to support the PPI Business System
  • Help teams identify new projects through value stream mapping, data analysis, and daily management systems, among other Lean Tools
  • Implement roadmap to improve continuous improvement processes, practices, and results.
  • Understand and communicate benefits of PPI initiatives, including hard and soft savings.
  • Collaborate with PPI teams across network to promote culture of excellence.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, biological science or related field.
  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with and positively influence leadership and all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record to drive cross functional teams to solve problems and implement sustainable improvements within the organization
  • Able to drive continuous improvement in both non-operational and operational areas, including connecting the cross-functional resources to remove waste along the extended value streams
  • Passion and enthusiasm for driving improvement and leading change
  • Consistent track record for developing, training, and mentoring teams
  • Great communicator, including solid written, oral, and presentation-giving skills
  • Broad knowledge of multi-functional processes and financial business methods
  • High ethical standards to support a professional business code of conduct
  • Creative problem-solving skills, organizational and time management skills
  • A Lean Practitioner with 5+ years of experience and a ‘hands-on’ track record of implementing successful TPS fundamentals including elements such as: visual management/5S, value stream mapping, standard work, metric boards, stand-up meetings, gemba, process mapping and project funnel coordination
