Position Summary: You will join the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) team, tasked with promoting Lean Six Sigma principles and operational excellence best practices across all functions. As a PPI Specialist, you will drive the company's commitment to excellence by leading projects, mentoring teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Culture & Leadership: Lead by example to embody our core values and commitment to excellence. Act as a change agent to spread the PPI culture throughout the organization.
Opportunity Identification: Identify, develop, and implement new opportunities to drive continuous improvement, including conducting basic cost-benefit analyses.
Strategic Collaboration: Partner with area leaders and stakeholders to execute an operational excellence plan that supports site, business unit, and corporate strategies. Foster an action-biased culture of accountability to improve KPIs.
Project Execution: Lead and facilitate PPI activities including diagnostics, "Just Do It" events, workshops, Kaizens, and longer-term projects. Utilize methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, Pull Manufacturing, TPM, Waste Reduction, VSM, Kaizen Blitz, Cell Design, Flow Dynamics, 5S, Visual Management, and 3P.
Project Management: Manage approved operational improvement projects from initiation to closure, ensuring objectives are met, risks are mitigated, and post-implementation benefits are sustained.
Financial Validation: Calculate financial opportunities realized through projects, working closely with Finance and Project Sponsors to validate the final agreed impact (savings/revenue).
Knowledge Sharing: Act as an internal consultant and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the sharing and implementation of operational excellence best practices.
Continuous Learning: Stay current with new developments in business process improvement methodologies and best practices, benchmarking against other market leaders and industries.
Requirements
Education & Experience
Advanced Degree (Master’s) plus 3+ years of experience, OR Bachelor's Degree plus 5+ years of experience leading continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing, laboratory, or regulated environment.
Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Science, Business, Operations, or a related field.
Required: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
Preferred: Black Belt certification.
Beneficial: Additional certifications in Project Management (PMP) or other Process Improvement methodologies.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in Lean methodologies, including Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Standard Work, and Kaizen facilitation.
Project Management: Strong project management skills with a proven ability to lead multiple cross-functional improvement projects simultaneously.
Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in data analysis, problem-solving techniques, and root cause analysis.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively at all organizational levels.
Training & Mentoring: Experience developing and delivering Lean training programs and mentoring teams.
Results Oriented: Demonstrated success in achieving measurable results through process improvements.
Financial Acumen: Strong ability to validate project savings and work collaboratively with Finance.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Power BI, Minitab, or similar statistical tools is preferred.
Soft Skills: Ability to work independently while collaborating across a matrix organization. Excellent change management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Industry Knowledge: Experience in a cGMP/regulated environment is highly preferred.
Travel: Ability to travel up to 20% as needed.
