About the role
As Opteon’s Power BI Specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping how data is transformed into trusted insights across the organisation. This role exists to design, develop and maintain high quality, scalable and governed business intelligence solutions that support strategic decision making at all levels of the business.
Acting as the technical subject matter expert for Power BI, you will set best practice standards for dashboard design, semantic modelling, performance optimisation and governance. Working closely with senior business leaders and technology teams, you will enable a consistent interpretation of key metrics, uplift enterprise reporting capability and ensure insights are clear, actionable and trusted.
This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership, influence and building reporting solutions that genuinely drive business outcomes.
Key responsibilities
You will design, develop and maintain enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports and apps that clearly communicate business performance and insights across multiple stakeholder groups.
You will develop and optimise semantic data models using DAX and Power Query to ensure consistency, scalability and performance across the reporting environment.
You will translate complex business requirements into intuitive and meaningful visualisations that support informed decision making for senior leaders and operational teams.
You will implement and enforce Power BI governance standards, including workspace design, dataset certification, security controls and performance best practice.
You will collaborate closely with business leaders and technology teams to support strategic initiatives, improve data literacy and continuously enhance reporting solutions.
About you
You are an experienced Power BI professional who takes pride in building reporting solutions that people trust and use. You enjoy solving complex problems, care deeply about data quality and governance and are comfortable influencing stakeholders with differing priorities.
You will bring proven experience, typically four to six years, in a business intelligence or reporting role with strong end to end Power BI delivery experience.
You will have advanced proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query and semantic data modelling.
You will have strong SQL capability and experience sourcing data from enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake or equivalent.
You will have a solid understanding of data governance, security and best practice BI development standards.
You will hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related field, with Power BI certification desirable.
