About the Role:

Alcoa is seeking an Area Potroom Supervisor to join the team at our Massena, NY location. This professional will be responsible for providing leadership for the operational and administrative services in the Potrooms, to meet both safety and production goals. Operate pot lines at peak efficiency to gain maximum quality production. Ensure all operations follow established SOPs while leveraging materials and process control systems to optimize quality and reduce costs. Oversee experimental projects and effectively manage manpower allocations.

  • Oversee resources in compliance with EHS policies and prioritize safety, while supporting initiatives such as Behavior-Based Safety, audits, Safety Council activities, and Safety Advisors.

  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the Potrooms to ensure costs meet, or better, the departmental expense budgets. Accountable to ensure work hours, headcount, KPI’s, and inventories meet Plan.

  • Support departmental ABS activities. Apply ABS principles to identify and implement improvements to production process.

  • Provide mentorship, counseling and support to direct reports to ensure their personal development and positive contribution towards achieving departmental goals.

  • Accountable for direct reports following SOPs such that processes remain stable and product quality consistently meets or exceeds customer requirements.

  • Maintain open line of communications with his/her counterparts in the customer’s organization.

  • Serve as shift decision maker/SPA for such items as planned maintenance priorities, special engineering projects, production / process and crew scheduling, etc.

  • Coordinate the delivery of molten metal to meet the needs of the Ingot Plant.

  • Work with Technical Process Leader reports to coordinate efforts on developmental projects and to correct pot inefficiencies.

  • Enhance communication practices to foster better collaboration between hourly and salaried teams.

  • Assign daily tasks and audit performances to ensure conformance. Take corrective action when required.

  • Direct and control activities during emergency operations in the Potrooms during off shifts.

What You Can Bring to the Role:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required.

  • Broad understanding of the Smelting facility, the process, materials, and people

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Potroom operations, preferred.

  • Supervisor experience or successful completion of the Supervisor Assessment Center is a mandatory requirement.

  • Demonstrated ability in providing leadership, achieving results and driving change is required.

  • Demonstrated PC skills are required, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS-Schedule/Exchange.

Base salary: $74,500 - $102,500 USD annually

Total rewards packages listed, including base salary and bonus eligibility, applies to US based applicants only. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies in conjunction with multiple components of the Employee Total Rewards Package. Alcoa reserves the right to change plans at its discretion.
