POSITION SPECIFICS

Position: Postdoctoral Scholar – iPSC and Genome Editing in Cardiovascular Disease

Department: Department of Medicine, Penn State College of Medicine

Position Summary: The Department of Medicine invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct research in human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) modeling and genome editing technologies to investigate genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of cardiovascular disease.

This position is part of a growing effort to expand precision medicine approaches in cardiovascular research at Penn State College of Medicine.

Responsibilities: The Postdoctoral Scholar will:

  • Develop and utilize human iPSC-derived cardiomyocyte models.
  • Apply genome-editing technologies, including CRISPR-based methods.
  • Perform mechanistic studies integrating electrophysiology and molecular biology.
  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets.
  • Contribute to publications, grant applications, and collaborative research initiatives.
  • Support the training environment within the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in genetics, stem cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in iPSC culture and differentiation.
  • Experience with genome editing technologies preferred.
  • Strong record of scientific productivity.
  • Commitment to collaborative translational research.
