A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shang Su in the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, Louisiana State University. The focus of this position is to study the molecular mechanisms of dormancy and metastases of prostate cancer cells in the bone microenvironment and to develop novel targeted approaches against the lethal bone metastases. Three major projects are available depending on interest: 1) Exploration of transcription factors that determine the cellular dormancy fate of disseminated prostate cancer cells. 2) Development of a novel loci-specific proteomic approach to reveal new transcription regulators of key driver genes in prostate cancer. 3) Development of peptide PROTAC degraders against undruggable target proteins in prostate cancer. Previous experience on cell culture, molecular cloning, and western blotting are required. Skills on CRISPR gene editing, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry/immunoprecipitation, mouse handling and injection, confocal microscopy, and basic bioinformatic analyses such as RNA-Seq analyses are highly desired. The Su Lab is seeking highly motivated, energetic, and passionate researchers to join the efforts to decipher the bone metastases and develop novel therapies for patients' benefits.
