The School of Engineering Medicine in collaboration with Texas A&M College of Engineering, Texas A&M School of Medicine and the state’s top-ranked Houston Methodist Hospital offer an innovative medical school program called ENMED This program was established to transform healthcare through translational interdisciplinary research, the development of medical technologies, and the development and training of “Physicianeers.” ENMED delivers a revolutionary blended curriculum with focus on innovation and entrepreneurship where students receive a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Engineering degree in the same four years.

What we want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for conducting research into their field of expertise.  The Postdoctoral Research Associate will utilize the skills and expertise granted to them by their education and experience to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications. Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite. May collaborate with other researchers and/or faculty.

Required Education and Experience

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong publication record in top-tier AI conferences or journals..

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • First-author publications at NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, AAAI, KDD, or IJCAI.

  • Experience working with large-scale, noisy, or real-world datasets.

  • Experience with GPU-based training and high-performance computing.

  • Interest in translating methodological contributions into high-impact medical AI venues (e.g., Nature Medicine, Nature Machine Intelligence, npj Digital Medicine).

  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: foundation models, multimodal learning, LLMs, AI agents, or trustworthy AI.

  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch

Responsibilities

Research

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in artificial intelligence with a focus on health and biomedical applications.

  • Collaborate with PI interdisciplinary teams on research proposals and contribute to successful grant applications.

  • Lead AI research projects that result in peer-reviewed publications in top-tier AI conferences and high-impact medical journals

 

Presentation /meetings

  • Will present research findings at conferences

  • Will attend and participate in various team meetings

 

Mentoring

  • Mentor graduate students and contribute to lab research activities
