Texas A&M University’s Biology Department is seeking to hire two Postdoctoral Research Associates to support ongoing research efforts within the department. Under general supervision, the Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct research within their area of expertise, applying advanced knowledge and skills gained through education and prior experience to design, implement, and complete research projects. The role includes analyzing data, interpreting results, and writing or contributing to research papers, articles, and other scholarly publications.
The Postdoctoral Research Associate may collaborate with faculty members, researchers, and other academic partners to advance departmental research goals. In addition, the position involves assisting with the preparation, organization, and cleaning of the laboratory or worksite, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful research, gain further professional experience, and engage in a collaborative academic environment.
Opportunities to Contribute
Conducts research within their designated field of expertise.
Applies specialized knowledge and skills gained through education and experience to plan and complete research projects.
Assists with the preparation, organization, and cleaning of laboratory or research workspaces in accordance with safety and operational standards.
Analyzes research data, interprets findings, and summarizes results.
Writes and may contribute to research papers, manuscripts, articles, and other scholarly publications.
May assist with mentoring, supervising, and supporting student researchers and/or graduate students working on related research projects.
Prepares presentation materials related to research topics and presents findings to small and/or large audiences as needed.
Actively participates in the preparation of required technical and progress reports for research sponsors and funding agencies.
Qualifications
Appropriate PhD in a related field.
Required Licenses or Certifications may vary depending on the area of research.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Presentation skills.
Analytical skills.
Attention to detail.
Typing on computers, standing, lifting 10 lbs.
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
PhD in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry.
Research experience in model eukaryotic organisms including Neurospora crassa or other fungi and/or mammalian systems.
Research experience in circadian clocks.
Research experience in mRNA translation mechanisms.
Experience in Bioinformatic skills, Mammalian cell culture, and/or Animal husbandry.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
