Glimpse of the Job 

The Department of Physics and Astronomy is searching for two Postdoctoral Research Associates to conduct research in experimental particle physics focused on CCI and current/future LAr detectors.

Opportunities to Contribute:

  • Conduct research and scholarship on detector design and commissioning, device testing, simulations, calibration measurements to include paper writing for CCI and current/future LAr detectors.

  • Participate in professional development and mentorship of students.

  • Facilitate experimental collaboration meetings, lab management, and experimental site coordination.

  • Attend seminars. 

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.

Position 1: Postdoctoral Research Associate – Detector Design & Analysis

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Experimental Particle Physics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physics analysis at the graduate level, programming.

  • Analysis group leadership, student mentorship.

  • Data analysis for HEP.

  • ML reconstruction, Geant4, software development, statistics. 

Position 2: Postdoctoral Research Associate – Hardware & Electronics

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Experimental Particle Physics or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physics analysis at the graduate level, prior hardware or electronics work.

  • Cryogenic commissioning, CEvNS experiments, LAPPD or SiPM work.

  • Data analysis for HEP, hardware and electronics.

  • Noble element detectors, DAQ systems, cryo-safety, optical detectors.
