Here’s a Glimpse of the Job

The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, will conduct research on sleep and circadian rhythms in fruit flies. Responsibilities include performing behavioral experiments, executing genetic manipulations, and generating novel fly lines. The ideal candidate will have experience mentoring students and collaborating within research teams, with additional expertise in working across multiple model organisms to investigate circadian rhythms and sleep regulation.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Conducts research in field of expertise, applying specialized knowledge and skills to complete research projects.

  • Assists with the preparation of cleaning and worksite.

  • Analyzes research data, summarizes findings, and contributes to research papers, articles, and publications.

  • Prepares presentation materials on research topics and contributes to technical progress reports for research sponsors.

  • May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate Ph.D in a related field.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Ph.D. in sleep, circadian rhythms, or related field.

  • At least five years of experience working in Drosophila.

  • Strong track record of publications in circadian Biology.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with presenting to large groups.

  • Analytical skills.

  • Great attention to detail.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
