The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at American University is seeking applications for a full-time, postdoctoral fellow beginning on or around July 1, 2026. The incumbent will work with Professor Brandyn Churchill on projects examining the role of federal funding in reducing the prevalence of obesity sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK).
Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or Ph.D. expected by June 2026), as well as relevant empirical research and training in applied microeconomics, public policy, public health, or a related field. Experience working in Stata and/or R, as well as strong writing and teamwork skills are preferred.
The initial appointment is for 12 months beginning on or around July 1, 2026, depending on the candidate's qualifications. The position is renewable for up to two years, subject to external funding. There is no teaching required for this position. The salary for this position will be wholly generated through externally funded research activities. The expected salary range is $70,000 - $80,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and work experience. Funding to support the Fellow’s research may be available for projects aligned with the grant’s mission.
