The Santos lab with the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to assist with collecting preliminary data and writing a grant proposal targeting the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). The candidate will use soft-tissue staining techniques appropriate for fluid-preserved museum specimens, collect micro-CT scans of museum specimens, segment 3-D images, perform preliminary analyses and create figures, write a grant proposal targeting NSF, and prepare manuscripts to be submitted for publication. 

Minimum Education Required
Ph.D. in a biological sciences field

Required Qualifications
•    Experience using soft-tissue staining techniques for micro-CT scans
•    Knowledge of soft-tissue anatomy in fishes
•    Experience writing proposals and obtaining funding for research
•    Experience writing manuscripts and publishing scientific research articles

Additional Education Desired
Graduate-level training in evolutionary biology and ichthyology

Desired Qualifications
Success in writing proposals and obtaining funding for research, along with knowledge of brain anatomy in fishes.

The pay range for this job profile is $61,008 - $65,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.

The position will be full time with duration capped at 1 year. Continuation beyond 1 year is contingent on external funding success.
