JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Automata Lab in the Robotics Engineering Department at WPI is searching for qualified post-doctoral fellow. The lab is undergoing rapid growth, and a post-doctoral fellow will have the opportunity to contribute to our cutting-edge research, while working with a collaborative team of faculty and graduate students.

The Automata Lab conducts research at the intersection of formal methods, machine learning, and control, with the goal of developing safe, reliable, autonomous robots capable of performing advanced tasks from high-level specifications. This work includes methods for combining reinforcement learning and temporal logic, using control barrier functions with learning-enabled state estimators, and other related research areas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct original research in close collaboration with the Automata Lab PI
  • Assist in the conception and writing of research proposals
  • Provide mentorship to graduate students, including support for research ideation and technical communication

Requirements:

  • A PhD in robotics, computer science, systems engineering, or related field
  • Strong track record of scholarly publication
  • A background that includes formal methods, machine learning, and/or controls engineering

Compensation:

$65,000 depending on related experience, expertise, and internal equity.
