Summary:
The Post-Doctoral Fellow position promotes the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students by providing intake/assessment, counseling, consultation, psychoeducation, outreach, urgent care intervention, and related services through the university’s Center for Wellbeing, Programing and Psychological Services. The Post-Doctoral Fellow provides training and outreach programs to all members of the university community and participates in a variety of training and other professional development activities. The Post-Doctoral Fellow also receives in-depth supervision and training in all aspects of university counseling center work, including clinical services system management, training program management, and facilitation of outreach programming requests. The person in this position adheres to all relevant ethical, legal, and professional standards. When applicable the Fellow must register as a Psychology Associate in the District of Columbia prior to beginning their fellowship.
Essential Functions:
1.) Direct Clinical Services
Provides direct clinical services, such as individual counseling, urgent care, intake/assessment, and consultations, in order to assess and address the emotional concerns of students, promote a supportive and knowledgeable community with regard to mental health issues, and facilitate students’ connection to the support or treatment they require. Provision of clinical supervision of trainees and group counseling may be included in Post-Doc Fellow’s duties depending on the demands on the office.
2.) Consultation, Outreach and Administrative Responsibilities
Provides training and outreach programs/services to student groups, staff, faculty, and parents, such as workshops or presentations on topics related to mental health, human development, and counseling center services.
3.) Training
Participates in appropriate clinical training as a post-doctoral trainee, including individual and group supervision, professional development seminar, off-campus conferences or presentations, etc.
4.) Other Duties as Requested by the Director
This may include participation in after-hours emergency coverage as required, and involvement in Center meetings and other activities affecting the efficient functioning of the Center.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time.
35 hours per week.
This is a one-year temporary position.
Salary Range:
$50,000.00 annually.
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
1 - 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Clinical experience with adolescents and young adults.
Prior experience in university counseling context.
Experience with diverse populations including international, minority, and disabled individuals.
Sophisticated understanding of human development, cultural context, and psychodynamics.
Experience in assessing and intervening with severe or potentially life-threatening psychological conditions.
Experience providing interventions to promote healthy emotional growth as well as the amelioration of emotional problems.
Experience with supervision of clinical trainees.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
This position requires a mental health professional with eligibility to become a Psychology Associate in the District of Columbia.
