Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Performance, the Portfolio Planning Specialist is responsible for supporting, monitoring, and reporting on the portfolio of project investments. The role is accountable for supporting the facilitation of the Business Investment Decision and project capacity planning processes. This is a key role in shaping the portfolio of programs and projects under the responsibility of the PDG to ensure the organization is planning the right projects and only commits to what is deliverable.

In this role you will:

  • Supports development of and maintains the PDG portfolio roadmap and resource capacity plan
  • Analyzes the portfolio across multiple KPI dimensions including resource capacity, project performance, investment categorization and prioritizations and, subsequently, discusses constraints, opportunities, and resolutions with project leaders
  • Manages the Business Investment Decision (BID) submission process to consolidate, track and review proposed plans required throughout the project lifecycle including project ideation, budgeting, approvals, amendments, and post project reporting
  • Contributes to annual and monthly planning practices for the portfolio, including reporting on project and capacity plans and projections
  • Supports the PDG in continually improving the methodology and governance related to portfolio, program and project management standards, processes, templates, and tools
  • Provides support and administration for the PDG portfolio and project management tool (Clarity)

What you bring:

  • An undergraduate degree or college diploma in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • PMP certification is considered an asset
  • Experience in project management, project coordination or business analysis
  • Coordination and production of reports on project or portfolio performance indicators
  • Financial and data analysis and trend reporting
  • Knowledge of project management best practices, exposure to a diversity of projects
  • OPEX, CAPEX and resource budgeting and forecasting practices
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite including: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint and PowerBI
  • Knowledge of Project and Portfolio Management tools, principles and methodologies is considered an asset

Working Conditions:

  • This position is a hybrid position with a minimum – 3 days per week on site.
