Assist in day-to-day portfolio management of a multibillion-dollar, multi-strategy global equity portfolio with a fundamental value-oriented implementation framework. This includes trading and portfolio construction decisions, and risk monitoring and management.
Frequent interaction with other Portfolio Managers across internally managed equity strategies as well as regular collaboration with research team members on prospective and existing ideas.
Participate in the idea generation and investment due diligence process for relevant positions and strategies.
Provide cross-sector and cross-geography perspectives on global equity markets, with a keen focus on highlighting pockets of opportunity on both a relative and absolute basis.
Assist with relevant equity capital markets engagements, co-investments, and bespoke investment processes, including establishing and developing relevant relationships.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement, innovation, and high performance.
Collaborate with internal departments across AIMCo, including Legal, Risk, Valuations, Compliance, Sustainable Investing, and Client Relations, on a variety of internal processes.
Collaborate with other asset classes across AIMCo on relevant investment opportunities, themes, and research.
Represent AIMCo externally and be an engaged communicator of the Public Equities and Active Equities investment strategy and objectives.
Interact with company management teams, equity research analysts, other sell-side contacts, industry experts, and other investors as appropriate.
A strong investment track record with relevant institutional investment experience (typically 10+ years) ideally including multiple years of direct global portfolio management experience.
Experience short selling and hedging is required.
Experience with long-term investing in a concentrated portfolio motivated by rigorous fundamental analysis.
Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of directly managed public equity portfolios. Sophisticated knowledge of portfolio construction is required.
Strong academic background demonstrating thoughtful and inquisitive curiosity and ongoing skills development. Relevant financial designation is highly desirable (i.e. CFA).
Experience and success managing bespoke direct investments is considered an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across geographies and functions.
A strong team player with a passion for collaboration, development, and mentorship.
Ability to balance multiple priorities, work independently, lead projects and thrive in a high-performance team environment.
High degree of judgment, integrity, and professionalism, with comfort operating in a highly visible role.
Ability and willingness to travel as required.
Establish trust and internal relationships with other Portfolio Managers and research team members to foster high calibre debates and discussion across prospective and existing investment opportunities.
Strengthens the Active Equities team through unique investment insights, rigorous due diligence, and debating key points for an investment thesis.
Enables the Global Fundamental team to continue growing both in breadth and depth while maintaining a strong and consistent long-term track record.
Demonstrates leadership by example, grounded in disciplined investment decision‑making, robust processes, and a high degree of analytical honesty.
Catalyzes continuous improvement across the team through a reflective and thoughtful approach to long-term investing.
